Toraya Tokyo Midtown Gallery: “Enjoying Time—An Exhibition of Ceramics by Contemporary Artists”
From Friday, September 18, 2026, to Wednesday, October 21, 2026, works by ceramic artists—curated by Ginza Kuroda Tōen—will be on display and for sale at the Toraya Tokyo Midtown Gallery.
Since its founding in 1935, Ginza Kuroda Tōen has carried works by renowned ceramic artists while maintaining a network with production centers across Japan and actively introducing emerging artists. For this event, Ginza Kuroda Tōen has curated a selection of ceramic artists and works that resonate with the sensibilities of those passing through Tokyo Midtown and add color to their daily lives. These pieces will be exhibited and sold at the Toraya Tokyo Midtown Gallery. The collection brings together works by promising emerging artists and creators dedicated to sincere, handcrafted artistry.

About Ginza Kuroda Tōen
Founder Ryōji Kuroda deepened his relationship with Kōdai Rōsanjin while working at a ceramics shop in Ginza, and went independent to establish the company in 1935. While supporting the ceramic work of masters such as Rokujin Kitaoji, the gallery has also focused on up-and-coming artists and unknown newcomers, introducing traditional Japanese crafts to the world. Guided by the philosophy of honoring the past while keeping an eye on the future, the gallery is currently located in Ginza 7-chome, where it handles everything from antique ceramics to works by contemporary artists. For many years, it has stood side by side with the Toraya store, which opened in 1946, both watching over the Ginza district. In the TORAYA Ginza Building, completed in 2024, the 5th floor houses Ginza Kuroda Tōen, while the 4th floor is home to the TORAYA GINZA store.
